Amid factional battles, including court disputes between disgruntled members, mudslinging, and allegations of maladministration, National Freedom Party president Ivan Barnes says the party is here to stay.
However, long-time MP Munzoor Shaik Emam has painted a picture of a party “in tatters” and has accused some leaders of misleading members.
Barnes told News24 the party would meet all the necessary requirements to participate in the May general elections, including finalising and submitting candidate lists in time to meet the Electoral Commission of SA’s (IEC) deadline on Friday.
