News24 | Intercape seeks contempt of court finding against police’s top brass over bus safety plan

There have been more than 170 attacks on Intercape buses in three years.

In an attempt to ensure passenger and driver safety, long-haul bus company Intercape wants national and Eastern Cape transport authorities to be hauled before court.

Their court efforts has two legs – one involving the authorities’ alleged failure to come up with a safety plan in line with a previous court order, and another for the police’s alleged failure to investigate numerous reports of bus attacks in the province.

In the first, a contempt of court application has been set down for Thursday in the Eastern Cape High Court in Makhanda.
