On Monday, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), which issues daily weather warnings, said that it expected more rains affecting the uMzinyathi, uMkhanyakude and Zululand districts.
It said the heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, could cause localised flooding.
Torrential rains claimed the lives of six people and displaced hundreds at the weekend. Cogta said the rainfall from the weekend wreaked havoc in the eThekwini Metro and the KwaDukuza and Ndwedwe local municipalities.
The eThekwini municipality closed public beaches and swimming pools as a result. The rains also disrupted power connectivity, affecting eThekwini and Stranger residents in the Kwadukuza municipality.
