More calls for a ceasefire in Gaza featured in the festive season messages from leaders of some of South Africa’s major parties as they reflected on the year that was and wished supporters well.

One party took the opportunity to remember their leader who had died and another took a moment to criticise the ANC for the state of the country.

The IFP called on those who may need to be rescued from abusive partners and those in need of shelter to reach out for help.
