Scenes of pregnant women wearing hospital gowns and carrying 25-litre buckets of water have become common outside Seshego Hospital in Polokwane, Limpopo.

They must fetch water from the taps in the nearby neighbourhood as water does not reach the public health facility. 

Two pregnant women, who spoke to News24 on condition of anonymity, said the water was for them to bath, flush toilets, and drink.
