PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday recognized the efforts and achievements of micro, small and medium enterprises at the 2024 Presidential Awards for Outstanding MSMEs held in Malacañang.
“We are here today for a very important commemoration as we recognize the recipients of the 2024 Presidential Awards for Outstanding Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and the Presidential Recognition for Outstanding Development Partners,” the Chief Executive said.
The awards recognize businesses that have demonstrated exceptional growth, competitiveness, innovation and sustainability. This year’s winners were selected from two categories: “Small Enterprise” and “Medium Enterprise.”

A rigorous evaluation process, from April to June, saw 96 nominees undergo regional and national evaluations based on their market breakthroughs, human resource development, and community impact.

The finalists for the Presidential Awards for Outstanding MSMEs were Island Group Winners, representing diverse regions across the country: 1) Northern Luzon, HeySuccess Virtual Assistance Services; 2) Southern Luzon, Al-She Footwear and Tropical Palm Herb Manufacturing; 3) Visayas, Jojie’s Bakeshop and Kawayan Collective Agricultural Cooperative; and 4) Mindanao, Nelly Coffee and Tablea and Malagos Agri-Ventures Corp.
Marcos also led the awarding of the Presidential Recognition for Outstanding Development Partners for institutions with remarkable programs and services supporting MSMEs.
They include the City Government of Biñan, recognized for its impactful barangay micro business enterprises (MBE) incentives that have stimulated business activity; and 2) Capiz State University Capsule Technology Business Incubator, lauded for facilitating technology transfer and prototype commercialization support to MSMEs.
All honorees will also receive cash prizes, Go Negosyo founder and Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) lead for jobs Joey Concepcion announced in the same event, which also marked the return of the award after a 15-year hiatus.
Meanwhile, the President vowed to craft a comprehensive strategy to foster a conducive environment for MSMEs under the government’s “Bagong Pilipinas” initiative.
“Aptly titled the MSME Development Plan [2023-2028], this strategic roadmap is structured around further improving the business environment, enhancing the skills and innovation, and expanding market access,” he said.
He will soon issue an executive order “that will set the specific roles and outline the procedures and activities for all involved agencies.”
The Department of Trade and Industry is now working with the MSME Development Council and the Office of the President to finish the circular.
MSMEs in the Philippines comprise 99.59 percent of the total establishments, highlighting their huge impact on employment and livelihood. At least 1,105,143 out of 1,109,689 total business enterprises are MSMEs.
