JAMMU: A
Pakistani intruder
was arrested from a village near the Line of Control (LoC) in
Akhnoor sector
of J&K’s
Jammu district
, officials said on Tuesday.
The arrested man, who identified himself as Zahir Khan (35) of Karachi, was loitering at Milan di Khui village near the LoC in Akhnoor when
security forces
spotted him.
“The intruder was seen moving about in a suspicious manner by a police party and was taken to the local police post, where he disclosed his nationality and identity and claimed to have inadvertently crossed over to this side,” an official said.
An FIR has been registered against Khan and police are trying to verify his statement.
On May 1, BSF troops thwarted an
infiltration bid
when they shot dead a Pakistani intruder along the international border in Samba district.
BSF inspector general (Jammu) D K Boora said, “There is a possibility that he (the deceased intruder) was being followed by more individuals from across (the border), but they were not visible.”
