In a Sultan Azlan Shah Cup match on Saturday in Ipoh, Perak, Pakistan secured a 5-4 victory over Malaysia, thanks to a last-minute goal by Abu Mahmood.
The match was packed with excitement as both teams showcased remarkable performances throughout the intense 60-minute game. Pakistan took an early lead in the ninth minute when Sufyan Khan converted a penalty corner into a goal. However, Malaysia quickly responded with a goal from Abu Kamal Arzai, leveling the score.
The competitive spirit continued into the second quarter, with Malaysia taking the lead through another goal by Arzai. In the third quarter, Arzai completed his hat-trick, extending Malaysia’s lead further.
Despite facing a deficit, Pakistan showed resilience and determination, staging a comeback in the final quarter. Sufyan Khan and Zikriya Hayat scored two quick goals in the 50th and 53rd minutes, respectively, to level the score.
However, Malaysia regained the lead with a goal from Marhan Jalil in the 56th minute, putting pressure on Pakistan. With just four minutes remaining, Pakistan fought back valiantly, and Sufyan Khan scored his third goal of the match in the 59th minute, securing the equalizer and salvaging a dramatic victory for Pakistan.
