Pakistan to Establish 100 E-Rozgar Centers and 10 IT Parks by 2025

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for the speedy completion of the Islamabad IT Park and a thorough third-party evaluation of existing software technology parks. He praised the ongoing efforts to establish IT parks across Pakistan, emphasizing their importance in advancing information technology, increasing IT exports, and supporting startups.

The Islamabad IT Park, which is being developed with the help of South Korea, is expected to be completed by next year. This park will feature a variety of amenities, including incubation centers and spaces for startups. In addition to the Islamabad IT Park, another IT Park is being constructed near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, also with support from South Korea. This project is expected to be finished by 2027.

The government’s plan includes establishing 100 new E-Rozgar centers and 10 new software technology parks by 2025. These initiatives aim to foster innovation, create jobs, and further develop the IT sector in Pakistan.

Moreover, Prime Minister Sharif has directed relevant authorities to grant industrial status to the gems and precious stones sector. He emphasized the importance of creating legislation, holding consultations, and activating relevant agencies to support the growth of this sector. He highlighted the need for international certification, specialized training programs, and comprehensive geological mapping to make the most of the natural resources in regions such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Sharif’s directives are part of a broader strategy to enhance Pakistan’s economic growth by leveraging the country’s rich natural resources and expanding its technology sector. By focusing on these areas, the government aims to boost employment, increase exports, and support the overall development of the nation.

The Prime Minister’s vision includes not only the rapid development of IT infrastructure but also the strategic growth of industries that can benefit from Pakistan’s unique resources. The establishment of IT parks and the enhancement of the gems and precious stones sector are seen as crucial steps toward achieving these goals.

Through these efforts, the government hopes to position Pakistan as a competitive player in the global technology market and to harness the full potential of its natural resources for sustainable economic growth.
