Three injured in ‘stabbing attack’ in Paris
A horrific stabbing attack has seen three people injured during the morning of Saturday at a busy train station in Paris, France.
One of the victims was left in serious condition after a person with a “sharp weapon” struck at the Gare de Lyon station, at approximately 7am GMT (8am local time).
Police have confirmed that a man was detained after the stabbing frenzy, and an investigation to shed light on the events is ongoing.
The reasons behind the attack remain unclear at the moment, police said, explaining the suspect was not heard crying out any slogans that could link his actions to a motive.
A police spokesperson said: “One person was seriously hurt, and two lightly wounded. Officers arrived on the scene within minutes and the man was arrested.”

The spokesperson added: “He was found to have an Italian driving licence on him, and did not offer any motive for his actions. There were no slogans shouted.”
Following the incident, authorities temporarily cordoned the area near hall three, rail operator SNCF announced on the social media platform X.
SNCF added traffic is “slowed down” between Gare de Lyon and Montargis and between Gare de Lyon and Montereau, but train services continue to run.
