‘Explosions’ have been heard across the East Riding of Yorkshire with a building at a chemical waste handling facility on fire.
A massive cloud of thick black smoke could be seen miles from the scene in Patrington, near Hull, as firefighters battled the flames.
Residents were urged to keep their doors and windows shut until the fire was brought under control.
Humberside Fire and Rescue said: “We have five pumps and a number of specialist appliances at a building fire in Patrington. Local residents and motorists in the area are advised to keep doors and windows closed.”
