REPRESENTATIVES of the Philippines, Japan and the United States met during the inaugural session of the Trilateral Vice Foreign Ministers Meeting in Tokyo on Thursday to discuss the merits of a three-way cooperation.
The Philippines was represented by Undersecretary for Bilateral and Asean Affairs Maria Theresa Lazaro, while Japan and the US were represented by Vice Minister Okano Masataka and Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell, respectively.
Lazaro said that peace, stability and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific should be the basis of the process between the Philippines, Japan, and the US, noting that such cooperation would amplify and sustain the momentum of growth in the Philippines and the resilience of the Filipino people.
She added that the three parties shared a common respect for a rules-based international order.
The three have agreed to advance work in strategic and critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, energy, critical minerals, and maritime security.

An inaugural trilateral summit in Washington, D.C., was set in April.
During the occasion, Lazaro also met with Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko and Senior Deputy Minister Funakoshi Takehiro.
