As part of its grand opening, Primanti Bros. gave away free sandwiches for a year to the first 100 people through the door. Hungry fans joined in the opening celebration tailgate beginning at 5 a.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Doors opened to the first 100 tailgaters around 10 a.m. The restaurant also had games, a DJ and prizes on hand.
“Most businesses don’t open their doors and then immediately give away the house to start their first day,” said Adam Golomb, CEO, Primanti Bros., “But, we’ve never really been one to stick to the rules. And, we’ve been focused on growing on McKnight road for years – so there’s no better way to celebrate.”
Since its founding in Pittsburgh in 1933, Primanti Bros. has grown to become a nationally renowned dining destination where celebrities, U.S. Presidents and sports stars visit to experience this historic, one-of-a-kind restaurant known for its Almost Famous sandwich built between two slices of Italian bread – piled high with grilled meat, cheese, sweet-and-sour slaw, fresh-cut fries and two tomato slices.
“We are committed to Pennsylvania – but also to our hometown,” said Golomb. “In recent years, we’ve been growing outside of Pittsburgh. It feels good to be back home.”
Like other Primanti Bros., the McCandless location opened as a full-service restaurant – featuring a huge new video wall and an expanded menu. The restaurant will continue Primanti Bros.’ half-priced happy hour, wing specials on Sundays and Mondays, and a buy-one-get-one pizza deal on Thursdays. The restaurant’s massive bar will have all the usual beer, wine and cocktails.

About Primanti Bros. Restaurant & Bar
In 1933, Joe Primanti opened a lunch cart in Pittsburgh’s Strip District selling sandwiches to the hungry truckers who were coming and going at all times of the night. Encouraged by sales and positive feedback, Joe expanded to a small storefront where he was joined by his brothers Dick and Stanley and their nephew John DePriter. And that’s how the very first Primanti Bros. location was born all dedicated to that early notion that folks deserve great food, with no pretense, for a good price.
