Princess Anne calls King Charles ‘old bean’
Prince Harry was comforted by his aunt, Princess Anne, after learning about the Queen’s death, according to a Royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex, who was in the US when he heard about his grandmother’s deteriorating health, arrived too late to see her before she passed away in September 2022.
In his memoir, Spare, Harry shared that he found out about the Queen’s death through BBC News on his phone.
He then travelled alone to Balmoral Castle, where his grandmother had died.
Royal biographer Robert Hardman, in his new book Charles III: New King, New Court: The Inside Story, claimed that Princess Anne, the Queen’s only daughter, was “indispensable” during this difficult time.

She was there to comfort Harry when he arrived at Balmoral. “She was there when Prince Harry eventually arrived,” Hardman writes.
“She greeted him with a hug and escorted him up to the Queen’s bedroom, where he was left to pay his respects to his late grandmother.”
Reports suggest that Prince Harry was heartbroken as he wasn’t invited by his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, to a private dinner after the Queen’s death.
However, he did attend a family feast at Balmoral with senior Royal members.

Celebrated in Robert’s latest book, Princess Anne was praised for being an unwavering pillar of support during the distressing time.
“One of the King’s first decisions was to ask Princess Anne to take charge of the house party now rapidly expanding at Balmoral Castle,” Hardman says. “The Princess Royal would prove indispensable over the next few days.”
It was revealed that Princess Anne stayed by her mum’s side during her last hours together with the lifelong friend of the Queen, Angela Kelly.
The biography also shared that King Charles had learned of his mother’s passing while returning from a mushroom-picking outing within the upscale estate lands surrounding Balmoral.
