NEW DELHI: The father of the teenager accused in the fatal
Porsche crash
in Pune allegedly made more than 20 calls to a doctor at
Sassoon hospital
, seeking favours in the case.
The police chief stated that the application of the Prevention of Corruption Act would involve the anti-corruption bureau, potentially leading to a disproportionate assets inquiry against the arrested public servants.
The police are establishing the trail of the alleged Rs. 3 lakh bribe that reached Sassoon hospital from the builder. Call detail records of the doctor, identified as Ajay Taware, and the builder are being analysed. The builder reportedly made these calls within hours of the accident on May 19.
The accident took place at 2.30am when the Porsche Taycan collided with a motorcycle in Kalyaninagar, resulting in the death of two software engineers. The teenage accused had allegedly consumed alcohol at two pubs before the accident, and the police have obtained CCTV footage from one of the establishments.
To aid the court proceedings, the police are contacting government and private agencies to digitally recreate the entire sequence of events leading up to the accident using artificial intelligence tools. CCTV footage from various locations in Mundhwa and Kalyaninagar has already been collected.
As a precautionary measure, the police have deployed a guard at Taware’s office in the forensic sciences department of Sassoon General Hospital.
