President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been advised to intervene and release DCP Abba Kyari so that he can assist in tackling the current nagging security challenges in the country.
A Group of Concerned Nigerians gave the advice in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Segun Rotimi; Deputy National Coordinator, Musa Shehu and National Secretary, Nnamdi Sylvester, in Abuja, on Tuesday.
The group expressed concerned over the latest attacks on a family in Bwari Area Council of the FCT where, according to them, the kidnappers killed 3 out of the family they kidnapped.
Equally shocking, the group said, are renewed attacks on passengers along the Abuja/Kaduna expressway, the Birnin Gwari expressway to Zamfara has been overtaken by kidnappers as Plateau, Zamfara, Borno and many other places where the criminals have completely taken over.
The group, therefore, insisted that, DCP Abba Kyari has the capacity to halt the current insecurity in the country because, according to them, he has done it in the past.
“Sir, seek full reports on the Kyari ordeal and immediately free Kyari so he can solve these security challenges.
“He knows the terrain, the system, their strategies, and how to engage communities and their leaders which usually help him to arrest even the most dangerous of these kidnappers and bandits.
“He is also the best in the use of technology and skills in the use of advanced technical intelligence to fight criminals.
“The advanced technical intelligence equipment the then brilliant former IGP, Solomon Arase, acquired for the Nigeria Police is no longer being used optimally,” the group said.
While advising the President to act fast in tackling the security challenges in the country, the group explained that no matter the excellent economic policies introduced by the president without adequate security, all will fail.
“Mr President, please ask Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Governor of Borno State, on how DCP Kyari arrested all Boko Haram terrorist commanders and coordinators involved in suicide bombings and ended suicide bombings in Maiduguri and North East.
“He was also the only person among all the security agencies in the country that arrested the Boko Haram terrorist responsible for the famous 2014 Chibok school girls kidnapping in Borno.
“He arrested the first billionaire kidnapper in Nigeria, popularly known as Evans.
“He also arrested the kidnappers of Ikorodu school children, Epe Children and Ogun Turkish school children kidnappers.
“He arrested the biggest kidnapping and terrorist Commanders like, Vampire, Halti, Yellow, Wadume, Ability, Onye Army, Dragon, Biggie, Urban Guarilla, Zakari Yau, Umar Abdulmalik, Abu Aisha, Abu kaka and thousands of other deadly Terrorist, Kidnappers, bandits that are Terrorising, Killing and kidnapping innocent Nigerians.”
