Matric Class of 2023 achieves 82.9% pass rate, KZN makes history
The Matric Class of 2023 who wrote the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams achieved an overall 82.9 pass rate%.
This was revealed by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga when she announced the results on Thursday evening in Randburg.

Wow! Independent schools achieve 98.46% matric pass rate
Congratulations! Independent schools have achieved an overall pass rate of 98.46% for their 2023 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.
According to the Independent Examinations Board (IEB), this is a slight improvement from the 98.42% achieved in 2022.

NSC examination: THREE Provinces that disappointed the country
While the top three provinces get the spotlight for their hard work in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination results, we also show concern for the worst-performing provinces.
South Africans have praised the Free State (89.03%), KwaZulu-Natal (86.36%) and Gauteng (85.38%) provinces for achieving top results, but also the worst deserve to be encouraged in order to do better.

Ghaleb Cachalia quits DA over demotion for pro-Palestine remarks
Ghaleb Cachalia has quit the Democratic Alliance (DA), saying the party had a growing dysfunctional, undemocratic, and authoritarian tendency.
Cachalia’s resignation follows a dispute last year related to utterances he made over the conflict in the Middle East.
