The National Assembly has voted for Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka to be the next Public Protector.
Before the vote, Members of Parliament had a debate on whether or not Gcaleka is a suitable candidate.
A total of 244 MPs voted in favour of Gcaleka while 12 voted against.

In true Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) style, the Democratic Alliance (DA) walked out of Parliament amid a debate on the appointment of the next Public Protector.
The National Assembly is currently meeting to debate on whether or not nominated Public Protector Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka is a suitable candidate for the Chapter 9 institution.

The man behind the vicious Klerksdorp BRAWL has appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of murder.
Wernich Botha (33) briefly appeared before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court, before the case was postponed to 15 January.

‘Incompetent’: Malema slams magistrate after failing to get case struck off the roll
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema’s application to have his firearm discharge case struck off the roll has been denied.
Malema appeared at the East London Magistrates Court in Eastern Cape on Thursday, 19 October.
As previously reported by The South African, a video showing Malema allegedly discharging a rifle at an EFF rally in 2018 at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, went viral on social media at the time.
