Olympian Anthony Jeanjean successfully defended his ULT.X BMX title in front of an animated crowd at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town this past weekend.
Jeanjean, who represented France at the Tokyo Olympics, beat out Mexico’s Kevin Peraza and Australian Boyd Hilder to successfully defend his Converse ULT.X BMX title.
Jeanjean came in as a hot favourite after claiming a dominant victory in last month’s UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup season opener in Japan.
In Cape Town, the 25-year-old Frenchman did not disappoint as he won with a run of 92,75.
“I’m so happy to win this event again, it’s been a pretty good week with an amazing crowd. I’m just happy to take the win again,” said Jeanjean.

Meanwhile, Cape Town’s very own Moses Adams edged out fellow compatriot to win the ULT.X Skate final.
M Adams edged out fellow Capetonian Ty Adams to claim the title.
“Everything went so well today, I’m grateful to have reached the finals through qualifiers and semis,” said M Adams.
“I’m at a loss for words, I’m a bit emotional at the moment, but really glad with the win.”
The skateboard street best trick event wrapped up with 30-year-old Khule Ngubane from Durban claiming the top spot.
“I’m super stoked to win the best trick, it’s an awesome way to start the new year, a big shout out to all the brands that supported this event to make it happen,” said Ngubane.
Established in Cape Town in 2008, the ULT.X has consistently attracted the world’s top action sports athletes to South Africa.
“Every year the level gets raised, the skateboarding was on another level and the BMX boys went off, we couldn’t believe what we witnessed today. It was a great day of action sports here in the Mother City,” said the event organizer, Markus Müesler.
