When it comes to 2024’s craziest TV sex scene, Fallout takes the cake — despite American Horror Story: Delicate being an early contender.
The series, produced by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, follows a group of survivors over 200 years after an apocalyptic nuclear disaster. Annabel O’Hagan plays Vault-dweller Stephanie “Steph” Harper, a pregnant and recently widowed woman.
While going through her late husband Bert’s belongings in Fallout Episode 4 (“The Ghouls”), Steph decides to offer a few items to her acquaintance Chet (Dave Register).
They go through Bert’s stuff together and comment on his shoes and clothing, and Steph begins to dress Chet in Bert’s clothes. The grieving widow puts the moves on Chet, calling him “Bert” while embracing and kissing him.
Can you see where this is going?
The two begin to hook up, with Steph making the first move. Chet seems unaffected by her calling him the wrong name. He begins to take Bert’s clothes off as their making out gets more intense, but Steph directs him to continue wearing the clothes.

The two move to Chet’s bed and Steph is situated on his lap as he reaches down her pants. “Now, that is one wet lady,” he says, which prompts Steph to quickly stand up.”Woah, woah,” she says while backing away from the bed and doubling over in pain. Steph screams Bert’s name as her water breaks in the center of the room, and Chet watches unhelpfully in shock.
Gross, gross, gross. Well, that’s a surefire way to kill a boner.

Fallout is an exciting combination of wacky humor and intense action sequences, and this scene shows how good the show is at both. Steph hooking up with Chet was a serious development in their relationship as romantic partnerships in the Vault tend to be arranged. However, the show reminds viewers to not take things too seriously by breaking up Steph and Chet’s heavy petting with Steph’s inconveniently timed childbirth.
Gross, traumatizing, and hilarious, the show leaves its viewers feeling a bit of everything.
