Stewart began his career at Windsor Assembly Plant in 1993 and was elected steward in the chassis department in 2002.
He then became plant chair and held that role until he was elected first vice president of Local 444 in 2012. Stewart then replaced Cassidy as the local’s secretary-treasurer in 2018.

Stewart has also played a leading role in the past two rounds of negotiations where he served as chair of the FCA/Stellantis master bargaining committee.
