Tattoo artist booked for businessman’s in-store killing in ‘Portie’

Sleuths from the Port Antonio Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) arrested and charged 28-year-old Rishton Ramah, otherwise called ‘Gaza’, a tattoo artist of Red Hassel Road in the Portland parish capital with murder following a stabbing incident on Harbour Street in the town on Monday, July 17.

The deceased has been identified as 56-year-old Robert Grant, a businessman of Harper Lane, Port Antonio.

From information received, about 4:05 pm, Grant was conducting business in a store when he was pounced upon by Ramah, who was armed with a knife.

An argument developed between them and a tussle ensued. During the struggle, Ramah reportedly inflicted several wounds to Grant’s upper body.

The police were alerted and on their arrival, Grant was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Quick police action lead to the apprehension of Ramah near to the crime scene, and a knife was also recovered.

He was later charged after a question-and-answer interview was conducted.

His court date is being finalised.
