British rock powerhouse The Cult commemorates 40 years with a stop on their 8424 Tour at Caesars Windsor Sept. 7.
Known for their post-punk, hard rock sound and experimentalism, The Cult’s musical prowess and stage presence has allowed them to forge a distinct identity while charting new territory for bands to explore.
Formed in 1984 in England, the post-punk band — featuring Ian Astbury on vocals and Billy Duffy on guitar — has sold millions of albums worldwide.

From Duffy’s formative and influential years in the Manchester underground, to Astbury’s groundbreaking Gathering of the Tribes, the duo has left an indelible mark on modern music.
The Cult has released 11 studio albums including 1985’s Love, which featured the enduring rock anthem She Sells Sanctuary, as well as the oft-heard follow-up single Rain.
Electric arrived in 1989, with standouts Love Removal Machine, Wild Flower and Lil’ Devil.
Most recently, The Cult released Under the Midnight Sun and the band began a series of vinyl reissues of their full slate of critically-acclaimed albums earlier this year.
This is their first appearance on The Colosseum stage. The 8424 Tour commemorates their 40 years as a band.
Showtime is 8 p.m.
Tickets on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through caesarswindsor.com or ticketmaster.ca or the box office, which is open Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m. and on show days from noon to 10 p.m.
Guests must be 19 years of age or older to attend concerts and to enter the casino and all other outlets.
