The three installments of the crime caper “The Roundup” starring Ma Dong-seok have become the first Korean movie franchise to sell more than 30 million tickets here.
The feat was previously confined to Hollywood blockbuster series like “Avengers,” “Mission: Impossible” and “Transformers.”

According to the film’s distributor, “The Roundup: No Way Out” surpassed 10.43 million admissions last Saturday, bringing combined tickets over the 30 million mark. The first installment “The Outlaws” attracted 6.88 million viewers in 2017 and its sequel “The Roundup” drew 12.69 million viewers last year.
The latest installment hit the 10 million mark on July 1 in about a month since its release on May 31. It is only the 30th movie to achieve the feat and the 21st Korean film to do so. It is also this year’s first film to achieve the milestone after “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
