Three young children, including a baby, are dead, three more have been hospitalised, and a man has been arrested after a house fire in Sydney’s west.
Emergency services rushed to Freeman Street in Lalor Park following reports of a house on fire at 1am on Sunday morning.
A nine-year-old girl and three boys, aged six, seven and 11, were taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
But NSW Ambulance paramedics were unable to save two more boys, aged two and four, who died after being raced to hospital.

Firefighters extinguished the burning home before the body of a third child, a 10-month-old girl, was found at the scene.
The children are yet to be formally identified and a 29-year-old woman was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for smoke inhalation – he remains there under police guard.
A police investigation is now underway.
“It’s a shock, a complete shock, particularly for anyone with kids,” one local said.

The brick home on Freeman Avenue was crawling with gas-masked investigators from police and NSW Fire and Rescue on Sunday morning.
Both windows of the home looking out over the street, and the front door, were blown open revealing an interior completely gutted and blackened by fire.
