In the clip shared to TikTok (@andreacheong_), Andrea begins by discussing sequins – and reveals how to find good quality garments.

Holding up a silver sequin mini skirt, she notes: “In terms of the actual paillettes, these are actually fine.

“It’s the lining for this that really grates me.

“This stuff is really static, it’s really sweaty, you do need a lining when it comes to sequins because it’s rough, but where you can, I’d avoid lining like that.”

She continues: “Obviously this is going to be fully synthetic, sequins are, I just also want to point out that you can get this sort of thing in charity shops for so much cheaper because people are constantly donating their sequin pieces.”

Andrea says that another thing to look out for is the type of “roll fabric” which has barely anything done to it.

“This literally is just like, fabric is cut off a roll and then they’ve just attached some lining to it,” she explains.

“This is the exact sort of lining I’m telling you guys to stay away from.”

Moving on, she then holds up a light cream v-neck cropped jumper, which can be worn with a sequin skirt.

“This is the exact sort of fuzz that we want to be avoiding,” she says.

“This doesn’t look natural at all, it’s really matted.”

However, she notes that what she does like about it is that the underside doesn’t have that kind of “mohair texture.”

“That’s better because there’s less friction on your skin and it’s slightly less irritating,” she explains.

The fashion whizz concludes with a white halterneck top, complete with silver tie detail.

“So it’s half lined to the bust, which is pretty normal, but not premium,” she notes.

“However, this is H&M, essentially halter neck tops with those rope strings, this will always shed crystals.

“And it doesn’t matter how expensive you go. it’s just the nature of this.

“But if you don’t think that you’re going to be able to stand wearing this when the crystals fall off and you don’t know how to replace it, I really would avoid this.”

Andrea captioned the post: “UGHH the lining is not great, be wary of things that look good online but are made to fail IRL. We deserve better.”

It wasn’t long before the post went viral and garnered several comments from fashion fans up and down the country.

“You’re always right on the money!!!” wrote one.

A second penned: “I bought that exact jumper from a charity shop.”

A third commented: “I’m so confused the shops are full of sequins. I have never seen so much. In an age where we should know better. Sustainability should be the priority.”

Meanwhile, another added: “I wish there was a law that they could only use wool or cashmere swing tags when the item is 100 per cent wool or cashmere!”
