At least three terrorists were killed on Wednesday (Jun 26) during an encounter with security forces in a forest area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. Arms and ammunition had been recovered from the terrorists. The terrorists were suspected to be affiliated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit.
“A search operation was launched by the security officials after we received details about the terrorists in the morning. The area was cordoned off and an encounter began,” said Anand Jain, ADGP, Jammu and Kashmir Police during a press conference.
“Three terrorists were neutralised in the encounter. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition have been recovered by the officials,” Jain added.
The gunfight reportedly started during an intensified search and cordon operation by the police along with the Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) team in the aftermath of twin terrorist attacks in the hill district on June 11 and 12.
On June 11, six security personnel were injured when terrorists attacked a joint check post at Chattargalla. While a policeman was injured in a gunfight with terrorists at Kota top in the Gandoh area the next day.
