Tonight on THE ROSENBERG REPORT, DeSantis trashes Biden as ‘weak and naïve’ on Iran, vows to protect Israel from Second Holocaust

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL – With just 96 hours to go before the all-important Iowa Caucuses, the first actual voting in Campaign 2024, I’ll show you my exclusive interview with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

I asked DeSantis to make his closing argument to Iowa Republicans and Independents – and especially to Evangelicals who dominate the GOP in the Hawkeye State – as to why he would make a better president than Donald J. Trump and Nikki Haley and why he believes he would be a better nominee to go up against U.S. President Joe Biden in November.

I also asked him about his foreign policy priorities, particularly in the Middle East.

The interview was recorded on Monday night.

As we reported Tuesday on ALL ISRAEL NEWS, I pressed DeSantis on whether he can possibly close a 30-point gap with Trump to win, or at least come close, on Monday night.

He insisted that he can, and he told me why.

But given how important Israel’s peace, prosperity and security are to Evangelical Christians, I specifically asked DeSantis to assess how Biden is handling the current multi-front war against Israel.

And what he would do differently if he were America’s Commander-in-Chief.

DeSantis vowed to be a much stronger and more reliable friend to Israel than Biden, vowing to protect the Jewish state from what he called a “Second Holocaust.”

He also vowed to seal up America’s southern border with Mexico and “stop the invasion” of illegal aliens so that terrorists cannot pull off a mass casualty attack inside the U.S. like Hamas did on Oct. 7 when they invaded Israel’s southern border.

The key to understanding all the troubles in the Middle East, DeSantis insisted, is understanding the threat posed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

President Biden – and Barack Obama before him – were “incredibly naive and weak when it comes to Iran,” DeSantis explained.

“They think, somehow, we can have a rapprochement with this regime.”

But, he said, the Iranian regime really wants “the destruction of Israel and they want the destruction of the United States of America.”

“I’m the only one running for president that served in the armed forces,” he noted. “I’m the only veteran. I served in the Iraq conflict.”

“When we were in Iraq, Iran was funding deadly attacks on our troops. They killed hundreds of American service members, probably over a thousand during that time. Of course, last year was the 40th anniversary of the Marine Corps barracks bombing in Beirut, on which Iran orchestrated and financed through Hezbollah.”

“So, Iran has an extraordinary amount of blood, American blood on its hands.”

“And yet Biden has taken actions to allow Iran to have more money flowing into his coffers. They, of course, will turn that around and use that to fund terrorism – Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and beyond.”

As president, DeSantis told me he is going to “turn all the screws on the Iranians.”

“We’re not going to let them have oil revenue. We’re not going to let them have money flowing into the regime.”

“We’re going to starve the regime of funding because ultimately that’s the mother’s milk of terrorism.”

The governor said Hamas’ Oct. 7th attack on Israel likely would not have happened to the extent it did without funding, arms and training from the Iranian regime.

DeSantis trashed Biden’s handling of the Gaza war, saying the president “has done everything he can to kneecap Israel’s right to defend itself.”

“What October 7th showed, what a lot of people in Israel understood and certainly I understood is, you know, they have people on their borders that want a Second Holocaust.”

“On October 7th, more Jews were killed than in any time since the Holocaust.”

“Israel has every right to recognize that threat for what it is, recognize it as a threat to its very existence, and to do everything it can to eliminate that threat once and for all. So, we should be supporting their efforts to do that. We should not be second-guessing them. We should not be trying to restrain them behind closed doors. They’re in a very precarious situation because they have adversaries that want to wipe Israel off the map.”
