The Government has allocated J$2 billion to purchase textbooks for students at the primary and secondary levels, for the next academic year.
Minister of Education Fayval Williams confirmed that the allocation also includes provisions for the purchase of e-books.
The Education Minister said the distribution of textbooks for several subjects has started.
She said the Ministry has already received some 11,000 licenses for e-books for grades seven to 11 and is assigning them to schools and the respective students.
She further disclosed that e-books for CSEC Accounts, Principles of Business and Office Administration, also for grade 11, will be distributed in short order.
The Minister also indicated that distribution for Food and Economics textbooks has begun as well.
