Two people died and three sustained injuries, in a head-on collision on the R72 opposite Port Alfred’s Rosehill Mall on Tuesday November 14.
Department of Transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose said a VW Polo with four occupants (three males and one female) coming towards Port Alfred had collided with a Ford Mondeo sedan from Port Alfred with one occupant, a man in his 70s.
Two passengers (one male and one female) died on the scene, Binqose said. Two male passengers in the VW Polo and the driver of the Ford Mondeo had sustained severe injuries and were taken Port Alfred Hospital for further medical treatment.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened at Port Alfred Police Station for further investigation.
