These floating structures are said to span 900 square meters and have the capacity to hold around 200 solar modules, which can be as powerful as 700 W each, with the entire setup weighing around 50 tons.
Mehdi Honarvar, the company CEO, mentioned ongoing negotiations for launching the system and that deals for the deployment are being finalized.
“We’re exploring potential sites for a pilot project. This technology is groundbreaking, particularly for open-sea applications. Many nations are shifting from land-based to floating solar power,” said Honarvar.
In the announcement, the company emphasized that the structure, thanks to its durability, is capable of withstanding winds of up to 160 km/h, and has a projected lifespan of 30 years. Made of steel and coated to resist corrosion, the structure’s stability is supported by 30 floating pontoons.
“Our pontoons greatly enhance safety in extreme weather. We also hold a patent for an offshore floating breakwater, which can protect floating solar projects,” Honarvar added.
Additionally, the company mentioned the flexibility of the panel installation, capable of accommodating even bifacial modules.
“Our design effectively guards against flooding in 2-meter waves, eliminating the need for a separate wave breaker. The structure itself cancels out about 45% of wave action. It’s also resilient against high tides with significant water level variations,” Floating Man added.
