By Nakinskie Robinson

Day one of the two day hearing of arguments in the murder appeal of entertainer Adijah”VybzKartel” Palmer, Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre “Mad Suss” St. John in the UK Privy Council has adjourned.

All four were convicted on March 13, 2014 for the murder of Clive Lizard Williams.

They were each handed a life sentence.

The five law lords heard submissions from King’s Counsel Hugh Southey, who is representing Jones and St. John, before breaking for lunch.

Mr. Southey’s submissions took into account possible breaches of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms in relation to telecommunications evidence, labelled JS2.

He also argued that the juror convicted of attempting to pervert the course of Justice, Livingston Caine, should have been dismissed when the matter was brought up during trial.

KC Southey also focused on the admissibility of evidence obtained in breach of the Jamaican Constitution by the police.

In the second half of today’s hearing, Attorney for Vybz Kartel, Isat Buchanan also began making his submissions to the law lords.

The matter was adjourned 4:04 p.m. UK time or 11:04 a.m. local time.
