TWO people were killed and a toddler injured in a car accident early Sunday morning in Bacolet, Tobago.
The deceased have been identified as Tobago Regional Health Authority employee Sherma Thomas and Sunshine Snacks truck driver Kareem Thom.
According to police, Thom was driving his Nissan Tiida with three occupants east along Claude Noel Highway, near the Dwight Yorke Stadium, around 12.05am, when he lost control of the car, crashed into a railing and then slammed into a tree.
A video posted online showed people trying to help the victims in the rain, as an ambulance siren was heard in the distance.
Newsday understands that Thom and Thomas died at the scene.
The other occupants – a woman and a three year old – were taken to the Scarborough General Hospital for treatment.
The woman sustained a fractured forearm and fractured leg while the child has a hairline fracture in the skull.
Both are said to be in stable condition.
Police are investigating.
