The Golden State Warriors aren’t the title contenders oddsmakers predicted they’d be in the 2023-2024 season. Injuries, rotations and other factors have hindered the Warriors from reaching their true potential. Whether they are a title team, we’ll find out soon enough.
The Warriors have struggled this season, particularly at home. They’ve found more success on the road than at home, which is odd considering they’ve normally been strong at home. Four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry spoke to The Athletic’s David Aldridge, and he joked that the team could benefit from staying in a hotel the night before home games to simulate their road success.
“Being comfortable in hostile environments, being comfortable in allowing your defense to travel and being able to rely on that, whatever the case is, it’s the polar opposite of last year,” Curry said. “I was joking that we might need to stay in hotels in San Francisco the night before home games and act like it’s a road game, take the bus in.”

The Warriors are 39-34 in the Western Conference, which lands them as the 10th seed. They have a home record of 18-19; however, they have a 21-15 road record. Last season was just the opposite, as the Warriors had a tremendous home record at 33-8 compared to their road record at 11-30. It was a complete 180 from last season to this season.
Golden State is currently fighting for the last spot in the play-in tournament. They are one game up on the Houston Rockets for the 10th seed. The Warriors are only 1.5 games back of the ninth-seed Los Angeles Lakers and three games back of the eighth-seed Sacramento Kings.
To no one’s surprise, Curry is leading the Warriors. He leads the team in points (26.5) and minutes (32.7), third in assists (5.0) and third in total games played. He’s shooting 44.8% from the field and 40.2% from beyond the arc, with 4.4 rebounds, and he makes close to nine field goals per game.
Curry has done the impossible before to lead the Warriors into a deep playoff run. The team has eight games remaining on the schedule, outside of their game on Sunday against the San Antonio Spurs. Four will be on the road, while the other four will be at the Chase Center. If the Warriors can go above .500 in the remainder of the season and get some help from the teams above them, they could be in a good spot heading into the postseason.
