The heart-melting moment a 10-year-old border collie realized his owner was leaving has been caught on camera.
Leo’s owner was preparing to leave for a week-long work trip at 3 a.m, but the dog’s adorable demeanor was making it incredibly difficult for her to head out.
“Ever since I bought him his new bed he’s made the silliest sleepy faces when awoken, but this reaction was different,” the owner told Newsweek.

In the video Leo struggles to keep his eyes open as he looks at his owner with love in his eyes—his tail gently wagging and hitting his own face in the process—listening as his owner explained where she was going and when she would be back.
“I’ve never seen him so sleepy to the point he was hitting his own face with his tail lol. He was definitely intently listening to me the whole time while I was telling him to be a good boy and how long I would be gone for,” the owner explained.
Leo’s owner shared the adorable video on TikTok under the handle @leo_thebordercollie where it has been viewed more than 3.4 million times. Viewers flooded to the comments to share their reactions and thoughts.
“His eyes are soo sincere,” said one commenter. Another viewer urged the owner to “quit your job and never leave that precious face again.”
One commenter wrote: “Trips canceled, stay home with the lil guy!”
Earlier this month, another dog’s reaction to being home alone gained viral attention when pit bull Damon was caught on camera messing up his owner’s bed and howling for her return.
While American bully Dex also showed off his vocal skills after being left alone in the house, prompting her owner to rush home and take her straight out for a walk.
While she was away for a week, Leo’s owner made clear that he was being cared for by her family and would be just fine.
“Of course it broke my heart knowing he wouldn’t know how long of a duration it would be,” she said. “I’m sure other dog lovers felt the same when leaving their pets for a vacation so that’s why I shared it and of course because his reaction to me saying bye was so sweet.”
