Former US President Donald Trump refuted the claims of the risks to the country associated with his reelection revealing that there are threats that are real to not only the American way of life but the democracy.

Addressing a rally of supporters in New Hampshire, Donald Trump said that President Joe Biden and his incompetence is the real threat to the US democracy.

His comments came just days before the Republicans are set to hold a primary election in New Hampshire, with the polls showing Trump’s popularity widening over his now major opponent former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.

Earlier Tuesday, the 77-year-old Trump secured a landslide victory in the Iowa primary caucuses with the opponents trailing behind.

The former president, while reacting to President Joe Biden’s criticism, said that the 81-year-old’s incapacity for the job is a clear and posing danger to the United States.

“He is a threat to democracy,” the four-time indicted Trump said, adding that “we have to get him out.”

“You know why he is a threat to democracy? A couple of reasons, but you know the first reason? He’s grossly incompetent.”

The remarks were made to the claims made by President Biden in Pennsylvania on January 5 in which he stated that Trump wants to destabilize democracy to ensure his victory.

“Whether democracy is still America’s sacred cause is what the 2024 election is all about,” Biden said on January 5.

“Donald Trump’s campaign is all about him, not America, not you. Donald Trump’s campaign is obsessed with the past, not the future. He’s willing to sacrifice our democracy to put himself in power.”

Trump has been consistently criticising Joe Biden for his policies. In October, he blamed the Hamas attack on Israel on a “deadly combination” of Biden’s “incompetence, radicalism, and weakness.”

The business mogul also lashed the President for using Justice Department against him.

Separately, Republican presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Sunday that he is ending his bid for the White House after starting his campaign in May last year, as he fails to shake the popular support Donald Trump enjoys.

During his video message, Ron DeSantis — who has been a staunch critic of Donald Trump — also endorsed him for president.

The 45-year-old was considered as a powerful voice against the former president’s election campaign that he commenced in May last year. His online appearance at the beginning last year was marred by the glitches he encountered on the Twitter space — the platform now called X.

“Now, following our second-place finish in Iowa, we’ve prayed and deliberated on the way forward,” the Florida Governor said, adding that “if there was anything I could do to produce a favorable outcome, more campaign stops, more interviews, I would do it.”
