Southland Home Show organiser George Owen, of Dunedin, and Caffé Italiano owner Massimo Giurioli gearing up for the show this weekend.
Bank accounts in Southland might be a bit barer after the weekend, but it might be worth it for those who are keen on bargains.
The Southland Home Show, is in its 27th year, is being held at the ILT Stadium Southland on Saturday and Sunday.
Organiser George Owen said close to 100 businesses, some from as far away as Auckland and Australia, would be taking part it this year’s event.
“It’s two days of super specials, so it caters for everyone”.

As usual, it was expected to be a good turnout. “It’s wall-to-wall people for the two days.”
Many products had been launched at home shows, which showcases building, house and home industry products, went on to be used daily in people’s lives, including waterbeds, microwaves and vertical blinds.
Owen said that at every stand there would be something new. It was also the perfect time to get advice from professionals, whether it was a query about spa pools, carpets, kitchen and bathroom, as an expert would also be at each stand.
Caffé Italiano owner Massimo Giurioli, who is based in Tauranga, will be an exhibitor at show.
Giurioli, originally from Italy, was surprised when he moved to New Zealand in 1986 that there was no good coffee on offer, and at that time it was mostly instant coffee.
He got in touch with his mother in Italy and asked her to send him a stove top coffee machine and a couple of bags of coffee

When word spread, a friend suggested starting a business to import coffee machines.
The friend sent Giurioli a pallet of assorted machines, including the new coffee pod machines with paper pods, which he started selling part-time.
Giurioli started going to trade shows and the business grew.
He has attended the Southland Home Show a couple of times in the past.
“It’s a show that I always enjoy. This year I made the special effort of coming down.
“I found the Southland shoppers are very loyal when they find something they like and a company that looks after them.”
In business for almost 26 years, Giurioli said “we still have clients from Southland that we had from the very beginning.
“Southland loves coffee … Because it’s a bit cooler in Southland they like to keep warm”.
Owen said everyone who attended the show would go into the draw to win an ebike.
Tickets were available to buy online through ILT Stadium Southland or at the door and there would be a discount for senior citizens.
