A worker was killed at Chek Lap Kok on Thursday after an elevated working platform collapsed on top of him.
The accident took place on Catering Road West at around 1pm. The platform involved was said to weigh around 10 tonnes.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police and the Labour Department began investigations into the incident.
Martin Lau from the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims said the accident was unacceptable, expressing sadness over the death.
Lau urged the authorities and the parties involved to focus more on ensuring safety at the industrial site.
“In the future, it is important for the Labour Department, companies, and front-line workers to have a better understanding of the risks associated with working in industrial sites. We are deeply saddened by this accident and hope that such tragic incidents won’t happen again,” he said.
