Marvel Comics has many characters who are some form of super soldier. There is the Steve Rogers Captain America who has chemical and science enhanced musces, speed and strength. The Sam Wilson Falcon has a long duration and high speed jet pack and an AI enhanced super personal drone.
The Gravity Industries Jet Suit is real product which has a top speed of over 85 miles per hour (135 km/h) and a range of 5 kilometers. It can lift off vertically to altitudes of up to 12,000 feet (3,658 meter) and land precisely on a small footprint. The suit has five engines and 1050 horsepower. It can run on jet fuel, diesel, or kerosene. Users can direct the jetpack by moving their arms as if they are leaning on a table.
The suit’s inventor, Richard Browning, broke the world speed record with a top speed of over 85 mph. The 3D-printed suit nearly tripled the old record. The suit weighs 100 pounds, including five gallons of jet fuel.
Tens of thousands of small commercial drones could be acquired by the military and adapted rapidly with mission-specific autonomy software under a new DARPA-funded program. The Rapid Experimental Missonized Autonomy (REMA) program—worth a total of $25 million.
The U.S. Army has ordered 1,083 RQ-28A drones from Skydio, a California-based drone manufacturer. The Army plans to award a follow-on contract for thousands more next spring.
The total global drone industry shipments is growing at compound annual growth rate of about 67% in 2023, with total global shipments reaching 2.4 million. By 2025, shipments are expected to reach $63.6 billion.
The U.S. Army wants to buy another 12,000 small, short-range reconnaissance (SRR) drones over the next decade.
If the DARPA AI commercial drone program is a success then soldier level small AI drones could be a one per soldier situation like the fictional Falcon.
The Steve Rogers strength and speed enhancement would be coming from safer and more effective steroids and possible wide scale genetic modifications. The development of wide scale combination gene modifications is being worked on by George Church and his companies.
