Underwater Museum of Art Gets More Sculptures

The Underwater Museum of Art off the Florida coast will be getting its sixth installation of sculptures next week.

A barge will lower the seven sculptures on August 8th.

This year’s additions include “Reef Goddess” by Raine Bedsole from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; “Deep Sea Three” by Matthew Gemmell and David Showalter from Baltimore, Maryland; “Sea How We Flow” by Elise Gilbert from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; “Poseidon’s Throne” by Nathan Hoffman from Highlandville, Missouri; “Bubbly Barnacles” by Donna Conklin King from East Orange, New Jersey; “Sunken Spores” by Ashley Rivers from Gulfport, Florida; and “Ring My Bell” by Bradley Touchstone from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

The 2024 artworks will join the 40 sculptures previously deployed on a one-acre permit patch of seabed off Grayton Beach State Park, further expanding the USA’s first permanent underwater museum to 47 art works.

Weather and wifi permitting, the live feed will be available at umafl.org.
