Empowering Future Scientists: Penn State’s 2024 Climate ⁢Science ⁤REU Achievements

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa — The 2024 Climate ‌Science Research Experiences for‌ Undergraduates (REU) program at ‍Penn State, ⁤funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, concluded successfully​ with 16 talented undergraduates showcasing their​ summer⁢ research through engaging poster presentations.

A Comprehensive Research Opportunity

This innovative ⁢REU initiative invites undergraduate students‌ to delve into various aspects of climate science, encompassing scientific inquiry and effective ⁤science communication. A Tradition of Excellence⁢ Since 2013

The Department of Meteorology‌ and Atmospheric Science within the College of Earth and Mineral⁢ Sciences has been facilitating this enriching ⁤REU program since its inception​ in 2013. Each summer, this initiative draws aspiring researchers from diverse locations across the nation to Penn State’s University Park⁤ campus. Here, they ​collaborate with esteemed faculty members, post-doctoral researchers, ⁣and graduate students on various climate change projects.

This year marked a ‍record level of engagement as participants hailed from an ‍impressive array of 16 different universities and colleges extending across states​ including California, Georgia, Texas, and ⁢New ‍York.
