The Las Vegas Raiders made a pair of additions to their offensive line during the 2024 NFL Draft, taking Oregon center/guard Jackson Powers-Johnson in the second round and Maryland offensive tackle Delmar Glaze in the third.
Aside from both being offensive linemen, the pair have one other thing in common: they were both ranked in the top 10 in highest-career pass-block grade among draft eligible offensive linemen ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, according to Pro Football Focus.
Powers-Johnson notched an impressive 91.8 during his time with the Ducks, and Glaze was not far behind, posting an 87.9 with the Terrapins. Those marks ranked first and sixth, respectively.

While Powers-Johnson closed out his collegiate career as a center, Las Vegas plans on using him as a guard. The Raiders view Glaze as a tackle first, but general manager Tom Telesco believes he could play guard, also.
On top of his prowess in pass protection, JPJ is a mauler in the run game. Unfortunately, Glaze does not own that same distinction and will need to improve in that area upon entering the NFL.
Both rookies will have to compete for starting jobs in 2024. Seeing as how the Oregon product is more well-rounded, he stands a better chance of winning his position battle than Glaze does.
