“A Trator”: Hours After Surprising Marcus Smart Trade, Boston Celtics Executive Gets Lambasted by NBA World

Several unanticipated trade updates are currently taking the NBA world by surprise. The Boston Celtics’ latest decision regarding its star player Marcus Smart is one such offcourt drama creating commotion. The 29-year-old point guard was recently praised and traded in the same breath by the club angering its fanbase.

Before traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, Smart was holding a significant spot in the Celtics. He played a crucial role in the line-up alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in the team’s promising run throughout the 2022-23 season.

The Celtics management led by Brad Stevens recently held presser on the trade. The Celtics’ President of basketball operation highlighted the star player’s importance in the Celtics’ roster while reasoning the team’s inevitable option to let go of Smart.

“We needed to balance our roster,” Stevens said. “And that meant we were gonna likely lose a really really really good player.”

Stevens’ statement, however, shocked many, including Smart’s teammates expressing their disbelief over his unceremonious exit. The Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum even penned an emotional Instagram message over the development.

Fan Fury: “Where’s the Emotion”

Fans didn’t settle down despite Stevens’ heartwarming statement on Smart’s exit from the roster. They denounced it a “cold and distant” statement.

“We don’t want to hear Brad anymore,” one fan said after a video clip of Brad Stevens’ statement went online, “he is a trator.”

The angry comments didn’t stop there. “I am appalled and saddened by this trade,” wrote another fan. “You’ve lost a fan-long fan.”

Smart also expressed his disbelief over the trade on social media. But the guard is now looking forward to his upcoming affiliation with the Grizzlies.
