Alabama rolled past the Dawgs to capture the 2023 SEC championship. Georgia suffers its first loss in two years, which came at the hands of Alabama in this exact game.
Alabama beat top-ranked Georgia 27-24 to reclaim the conference title and keep its playoff hopes alive. While Georgia nearly completed a late surge, once the Tide took their first lead in the first quarter, they never looked back.
Jalen Milroe started off slow, throwing four incompletions to start his game. But he came back to finish with 192 passing yards and two touchdowns. His 29 yards rushing (sacks included) caused fits for the Dawgs’ defense, helping secure Alabama’s win.
With its first loss of the season, one can assume the Bulldogs is out of the playoff picture. Or are they? With Texas’s Big-12 title, it’s safe to say the Longhorns are the next ones in with their win over the Tide, who’s SEC championship could be enough to get them into the College Football Playoffs despite that early loss.
Georgia’s chances at a third national title look slim, as it’s unlikely to be a CFP contender without a conference title.
