Americans Abroad Midweek Preview: Robinson, Reyna, and more

Fulham takes a midweek break from its English Premier League schedule to try and advance into the EFL Cup quarterfinals.

Antonee Robinson, Tim Ream and the Cottagers face a trip to in-form Ipswich Town on Wednesday in Round of 16 action. The 26-year-old Robinson has continued to lock down the starting left back job in Marco Silva’s squad, registering eight league appearances to date. Robinson enjoyed a strong afternoon in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion and will be keen on keeping his spot for Wednesday’s trip to Portman Road.

Ream has also appeared in eight league matches to date, scoring once and continuing to be a leader on and off the field for the Cottagers. The 36-year-old might be given a rest by Silva, but also could be relied on to help keep Ipswich’s high-flying attack at bay.

Ipswich Town sits second in the EFL Championship and overall has scored three goals or more in three of its last four matches.

In Germany, Gio Reyna and Borussia Dortmund face John Brooks and Hoffenheim in DFB Pokal play. Joe Scally and Lennard Maloney go head-to-head for the second time in four days.

In Spain, Luca De La Torre and Jonathan Gomez are in Copa Del Rey action.

Elsewhere, George Bello and LASK seek advancement in the Austrian Cup competition. Alex Zendejas will try and continue his strong run of form with Club America. Mark McKenzie and Griffin Yow headline the American contingent in Belgian Cup play.
