Americans Abroad Player of the Week: Antonee Robinson

Antonee Robinson’s impactful string of performances continued for English Premier League side Fulham on Sunday despite the club’s frustrating defeat to Liverpool.

Robinson played 90 minutes at Anfield, assisting once in a 4-3 loss to Liverpool. The U.S. men’s national team left back has now registered a goal or assist in five-straight matches for club and country, earning SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors.

The 26-year-old teed up Harry Wilson for a 1-1 equalizer while also delivering a strong defensive performance. Not many players can keep Mohamed Salah off the scoresheet, but Robinson did just that over the 90 minutes on Merseyside. He led all players with three tackles completed, while also winning seven of his 10 duels.

Fulham has a quick turnaround in EPL play with a showdown against Nottingham Forest coming on Wednesday.

Here is a look at some of the other top Americans Abroad performers from this past week:

Christian Pulisic

AC Milan returned to winning ways on Saturday with Christian Pulisic getting back to his best in the process.

Pulisic scored once in the Rossoneri’s 3-1 Serie A triumph over Frosinone on Saturday, taking his goal tally to five on the season. The USMNT attacker has had a dip in form over the last few weeks, but responded in a major way at the San Siro.

Pulisic remains second on the club’s scoring list this season behind Olivier Giroud.

Chris Richards

Chris Richards came into Sunday’s match without a domestic start under his belt since September, but the American defender didn’t look out of step.

Richards logged 90 minutes as Crystal Palace earned a 1-1 draw at London rivals West Ham United. The USMNT center back shined in defense, winning 11 duels, making three tackles, and two interceptions.

The 23-year-old Richards will surely be full of confidence heading into the remainder of a busy December schedule.

Gianluca Busio

Make it five-straight victories for Serie B leaders Venezia.

Former Sporting KC midfielder Gianluca Busio has been part of the recent uptick in form for Venezia, assisting once in Saturday’s 3-1 triumph over Acoli. Busio won eight duels, eight recoveries, and continued to shine in a growing club role.

The 21-year-old now has two goals and one assist in 15 league appearances to date this campaign.

Reggie Cannon

EFL Championship side QPR celebrated its second-consecutive victory on Friday, which is the first time this season that they have done so.

Former FC Dallas homegrown Reggie Cannon returned to the starting lineup, logging 65 minutes in a 2-0 win over Preston North End. Cannon completed 82% of his passes, completed both of his tackles, and made three recoveries.

The 25-year-old has started to gain his footing in the Championship, with QPR seeking a surge up the league table.
