Harald Oestberg Amundsen extended his lead at the top while Kerttu Niskanen closed in on Jessie Diggins. The race was the fifth stage of the Tour de Ski, with Amundsen increasing his grip on the yellow bib ahead of the final two stages in Italy this weekend. Epic finish between Niskanen and Brennan in 20km Pursuit Classic at Tour de Ski

Harald Oestberg Amundsen extended his healthy lead at the top of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup standings with victory in Davos.

The Norwegian notched his third victory of the season, and second of 2024, with a win by half a second over compatriot Henrik Doennestad.

The pair were comfortably ahead of Martin Loewstroem Nyenget, who clinched third by 0.1 second from Hugo Lapalus to complete a Norwegian podium sweep.

The race was the fifth stage of the Tour de Ski, with Amundsen increasing his grip on the yellow bib ahead of the final two stages in Italy this weekend.

Erik Valnes is his closest competitor, 11 seconds behind, with Federico Pellegrino a further 14 seconds back in third.

Pellegrino finished in 10th, over a minute behind Amundsen in Switzerland, with Valnes a place further back.

Kerttu Niskanen claimed victory in the women’s race in heavy snowfall, with the Finn leading out American pair Rosie Brennan and Jessie Diggins, who completed the podium.

Niskanen finished 0.8 seconds ahead of Brennan, with overall World Cup leader Diggins a further eight seconds behind.

Amundsen victorious in men’s Pursuit Classic

Third place in Switzerland saw Diggins break the 1,000-point barrier in the overall World Cup standings, with her lead over compatriot Brennan now 184 points.

However Brennan sits just three points ahead of Emma Ribom, with fellow Swedish skier Linn Svahn also in touch on 804 points.

Diggins also leads comfortably in the Tour de Ski standings, with the American ahead of Niskanen in second and Jonna Sundling in third.
