Carlo Ancelotti has effectively put an end to speculation that he was to become head coach of the Brazil national team in the summer of 2024 by signing a two-year contract extension at Real Madrid. Ancelotti has won ten trophies during his two spells in charge of the La Liga club. Real Madrid are currently top of the LaLiga table, level on points with Girona on 45 after 18 matches played.

Carlo Ancelotti has signed a new Real Madrid contract, keeping him at the La Liga club until June 2026.
The Italian has won ten trophies during his two separate spells as head coach of Real.
His honours include two Champions League titles, two Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, one La Liga title, two Copa de Rey trophies and one Spanish Super Cup.
Ancelotti had been rumoured to be leaving the club for the Brazil national team job with his contract due to expire in the summer 2024.
In July, Brazil appointed Fluminense coach Fernando Diniz on a 12-month contract which would have expired at the same time as Ancelotti’s previous deal.
“He will come [Diniz] and make the transition in Brazil for Ancelotti,” Rodrigues said.
“His game plan is almost similar to that of the coach that will take over at Copa America, Ancelotti.
“We don’t call him an interim coach of the national team.”
Ancelotti’s failure to win the Spanish league title or the Champions League last season fuelled intense speculation around his future.
Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso and Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi had been rumoured to be potential successors to Ancelotti, but the 64-year-old has put any rumours of him departing to an end by renewing for a further two seasons.
Ancelotti is the only manager to have won four European Cups and was the first manager to win all five major European league titles.
