Andy Murray is one of Team GB’s most famous stars and his dream of becoming a three-time Olympic champion is just about still alive.
The British tennis star, who has already confirmed this will be the final tournament of his career, has scraped into the quarter-finals of the doubles to keep his Games going.

The 2012 Olympics was one of the biggest moments in Murray’s career as he beat Roger Federer to claim gold in the Men’s Singles – sparking a run that saw him win his first Grand Slam later that year before finally becoming Wimbledon champion in 2013.
At Rio 2016, the Scot became the first tennis player in Olympic history with two singles gold medals having beat Juan Martin del Potro.
His injuries prevented him from attempting one final run as a singles competitor, leaving the doubles with Dan Evans as his last hope.
The Team GB pair have defied the odds in both of their two openers to save a combined seven match points to reach the last eight.
When is Murray next in action?
The 37-year-old’s next – and potentially final – match at the Olympics will be on Thursday, August 1.
The order of play is yet to be announced, meaning an official UK start time for Murray and Evans has not been confirmed.
The Team GB duo will play either American third seeds Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul or Dutch pair Robin Haase and Jean-Julien Rojen, who face off on Wednesday.
Murray and Evans were on the cusp of defeat in both of their first two rounds that would have been the final nail in the former’s professional career.
The most recent of which saw them down Belgian duo Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen in an epic clash, which they won 6-3, 6-7 (8-10), 11-9.

Having beaten Japan’s Kei Nishikori and Taro Danie in the first round by saving five match points, Murray and Evans needed to rescue another two on Tuesday.
Quizzed on whether he has already thought about the possibility of their next game potentially being his last, Murray told talkSPORT: “Well I know this is my last tournament, so I know every match I go into is possibly the last.
“But it’s worth putting myself on the line one more time. I get to rest when this tournament is done for a very long time.
“I’m loving being here and I’m loving being part of the team.
“I’m loving playing in the Olympics and it’s an amazing and special experience so I’m grateful I get to go through that one more time and hopefully can spend a few more days here.”
Murray is now within touching distance of competing for a medal, with the bronze medal match scheduled for Friday, August 2.
The gold will then be decided on Saturday, August 3.
