Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois have their championship match set.
The long-rumored matchup was officially announced Wednesday, with Riyadh Season promoting that bout that is set to headline at Wembley Stadium in London on Sept. 21.
Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs)) enters the bout as the reigning IBF champion after seeing his interim title promoted in the aftermath of Oleksandr Usyk vacating the IBF belt on Tuesday. Usyk, who still holds the WBA, WBC, and WBO belts, recently defeated Tyson Fury to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era and is set to rematch Fury on Dec. 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This past June, Dubois defeated Filip Hrgovic via eighth-round TKO to claim an interim title. The win put him in line to challenge Usyk, but with Usyk occupied with the Fury feud, it now falls upon Joshua to be Dubois’ first challenger.
Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) has seen a resurgence since losing a second time to Usyk in August 2022. He has rattled off four straight wins, most recently scoring a stunning second-round knockout of former UFC heayweight champion Francis Ngannou in Riyadh this past March. Joshua looks to reclaim the IBF title that he’s previously held on two occasions.
The following bouts were also announced for the undercard.
Anthony Cacace vs. Josh Warrington
Joshua Buatsi vs. Willy Hutchinson
Tyler Denny vs. Hamzah Sheeraz
Josh Kelly vs. Liam Smith
Mark Chamberlain vs. Josh Padley
